The followng post is by Rebecca Walsh at seattlebackpackersmagazine.com. From my perspective it is a lot safer than you think. I'm am sure nationally there have been fatalities but not locally in the state of Oregon. One reason - Most hunters don't go more than a few hundred yards from their car.
